About this event:
Led by Conrad Fox, journalism trainer and co-founder of media company Studio Canek.
If you communicate with the public, whether that’s covering the news or launching a product, sharing a success or explaining ground-breaking research, you’re telling a real-life story. In this session, Conrad will suggest a new way to tell it: by taking a microphone to the place where it happened. It’s a technique that combines voice with ambient sound, narration with on-the-spot recordings, the latest in high-tech audio gear with the age-old art of storytelling.
Conrad will bring some of his equipment for you to try recording interesting sounds in the Hub and (time-permitting) conducting flash interviews with your colleagues. He’ll share some of his own stories from his time as a journalist in Latin America and brainstorm lessons they may hold for how you, too, can tell your stories through audio. Even if you never pick up a microphone again, the session will hopefully give you a new ear for the stories around us, just waiting to be told.
