This edition of the Changemaker Socials will connect non-profits seeking new board members with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, lived experiences, and skill sets. Join us to build inclusive leadership, share your expertise, and help shape the future of Ottawa’s governance landscape. Speaker: Bo Turpin, Executive Director, Upstream & President, Ottawa Black Coalition More about Bo: Executive Director Bo Turpin has been with Upstream Ottawa Mental Health Community Support since 2000, having spent 20 years of that time at the helm of the organization. He is the 2025 chair of the Mental Health Community Support Services Executive table, and he contributes his expertise on the Executive Board of the Ottawa Black Mental Health Coalition and is the 2025 inaugural Chair of the Ottawa Black Coalition of which he is a founder. Additionally, Bo represents Upstream Ottawa as a partner of the Ottawa Health Team and sits on their Health Equity Working Group. As a member of the Black community, he’s passionate about serving the Black community through culturally affirming, anti-racist, strengths-based lenses. In 2021, in partnership with the Center for Addictions and Mental Health, he led the Ottawa implementation for a Black mental health and substance health initiative titled – Substance Abuse Program for African Canadian Caribbean Youth, now called AMANI services for Black Youth.
