Creative Indigenous Women Entrepreneurship: Reclaiming Culture & Identity
Featuring Angeka DeMontigny
Thursday June 10 @12-1 pm
What are innovative solutions you would like to see in the ecosystem to better support creativity and entrepreneurship for Indigenous women?
The antidote to capitalism: Indigenous women entrepreneurs incorporating ancient world views that create sustainable, circular economies. Imagination, creative brilliance, an inherent connection to land, and responsibility to community and future generations will bring much-needed humanity to a soulless and greedy corporate world and save Mother Earth in the process.
Angela DeMontigny is an internationally renowned, award-winning Indigenous (Cree/Metis) designer, artist, and trailblazing entrepreneur. As the Founder and CEO of Young Native Fashion Inc., she has been a prominent leader of the Indigenous luxury movement in fashion design for over 2 decades, Angela is famous for her luxury brand of bespoke and ready-to-wear, all leather clothing collections, bold accessories, fine jewelry and luxury, leather handbags.
Her pieces have been sold in galleries and specialty boutiques (including her own), throughout North America and Europe, outfitting award-winning singers, performers, and other high-profile personalities from across Canada and the U.S. Angela is also an avid mentor and advocate for Indigenous women entrepreneurs across North and South America.
