What is the Climate Academy?
The Climate Academy is designed for individuals working in climate and sustainability who want to expand their skills, increase their initiative’s impact, and be part of a network of like-minded entrepreneurs and sustainability leaders based at Impact Hub Ottawa (IHO). The Climate Academy supports grassroots and community-led climate individuals working on sustainability initiatives and includes:
- Subsidized dedicated workspace based at IHO (123 Slater St., Ottawa)
- One-on-one coaching with sustainability and business experts
- Practical workshops that will build skills and knowledge
- Accountability support with peers and coaches
- A community of 300+ IHO members and visiting professionals

Who's it for?
You should apply if you are:
- Leading or working on a climate-focused initiative
- Part of a small nonprofit, grassroots group, charity, or community project
- Building solutions related to climate justice, sustainability, or systems change
This unique internship is geared to individuals who are either employed with an organization with a mission committed to environmental sustainability, or entrepreneurs who have launched their own sustainability-focused company or not-for-profit.
We strongly encourage applications from equity-deserving leaders, including newcomers, seniors, Black, Indigenous, racialized, disabled, and 2SLGBTQ+ individuals.
Eligibility (All Required)
To qualify, you must:
- Be 18+
- Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
Be actively working on a climate-focused initiative - Organization must have operated for at least 1 year
- Commit to working in person at Impact Hub Ottawa at least 2 days per week
What's Included?: Dedicated Desk
Academy spots will go to six chosen applicants and is valued at over $8,000 per recipient.

Coaching & Skill Building
- One-on-one advisory sessions
- Workshops on a range of skills and knowledge building, including business plans, AI, marketing and pitches, budgets, storytelling and more
- Leadership coaching with our team of 13 expert IHO coaches
- Structured goal setting & accountability
- In-house networking with members and from the monthly IHO events
Program Details
- Application closes Mar 31, 2026 however IHO reserves the right to stop accepting applications before this date - get your application in early to avoid disappointment!
